š¤a new watercolor paletteāļø
moodboard + swatches + a little chat
Hi friends,
Iām glad youāre here.Itās been a while, hasnāt it? I hope everythingās been well and that youāre enjoying these hot Summer days.
After a few months of gouache making I really started to miss creating new shades and hues of watercolors.
To be completely honest, I felt in a bit of a rut with my watercolors sometime last year and didnāt feel as excited about it anymore as I used to. To get my mind off my watercolor block I was focusing on gouache and trying to master a new medium. Sometimes getting a break is just what you needed to reignite that spark and get over your art block, you know? Something which I do get from time to time.
You know what else is good when you have an obstacle during your creative process? A little nature break. Nothing better than some fresh air. I remember in the old art school days my teacher would always encourage us to walk around if you feel a bit stuck. A change of perspective, is what he called it. So here we are, fresh as a daisy with some new colors in the works.
As always for this palette I was inspired by the natural world, more so the majesty of nature. Nothing like a blitz of lightning or a scattering of colors in the sky like a canvas bleeding and blooming with various tones and hues. Maybe a little moodboard to help us translate these deficient thoughts into visuals.

If youāve followed along on my Stories you probably saw that I focused on the softer colors at first. A few sparkles to adorn and soft tones to add some charm as well as soothing blues and the plummiest of burgundies that separates into bright pink. I remember people asking for a non-sparkly version of Northern Lights, so for those I have this stunning soft teal sans glistening.

Afterwards I wanted to concentrate on colors to round out our palette and add some contrast. I always try to give a nice selection of shimmers, granulation, mattes ,light and dark. What I also thought was missing was a marbled grey in my selection, the kind of grey you see in a cosy jersey fabric. Also these four are giving a hint of opulent brocade vibes, or not?

So here is a good look of our final selection. Ten little beauties, mostly soft and dainty and a few darker ones to contrast and mix with.
Iāll be opening Pre-Orders for The Phenomena Palette Sunday July 21st 15:00 CEST. Slots close August 3rd 2024 or until all slots are filled.
Everyone who orders in July gets 10% off as itās my birthday month. Discount will be automated on the webshop, no need for codes.š·
Iām still debating the names but the deadline is going to be a good motivator. As always Pre-Orders are per set of half or full pans and can take up to 2-3 months depending on quantity and by weather. I only use a slow method of making my paints which starts with the binder and also means thereās no dehydrator or heating involved. Just time, attention and lots of patience. I like the results this slow method gives me and if anything I feel I can control the outcome better. Except when spring feels like winter, then we need some extra love and patience. But hey, who doesnāt?
If you want to order other colors of mine that youāve seen on Insta or blog posts, Iām always available for Custom Orders. There are highlights of each palette on my IG profile as well as plenty of galleries of single colors. Curing time is the same as our Pre-Orders. If anyone wants to orders these colors in gouache, I only have 20ml available for now. If youād like 10ml let me know so I can order supplies accordingly.
If you need help or assistance, you can always dm me or send an email : heytinyclouds@gmail.com
These colors together make me so happy and proud, itās been a while since I had this feeling with aquarelles.
Itās been a pleasure sharing my latest thoughts and truths. As always, I hope to see you at the launch. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, lovely.
Love,
Lau
